NFL+ not working with VPN

support background

NFL+ requires a free NFL account, created at nfl.com/plus. There are two tiers:

  • NFL+ (free): local and primetime game replays, condensed replays, and NFL Network replays.
  • NFL+ Premium (paid): everything you get on the free tier, plus full-game replays, the All-22 coaches' film, NFL Pro analytics, and more.

Which games and features you can access depends on your NFL+ plan, not your VPN connection—VPN Super doesn't change what's included in your subscription. If a game or replay isn't available, check your plan tier on nfl.com/plus before troubleshooting the VPN.

Common reasons NFL+ might not work with a VPN

  • The server you're on is under heavy load during a high-traffic kickoff window
  • NFL+ applies extra scrutiny to VPN traffic, which can occasionally affect playback

Try these steps

  1. Make sure the app is up to date. Update VPN Super from the App Store or Google Play. If you're on another platform, download the latest VPN Super version here.
  2. Switch to a Premium server. Premium servers are optimized for streaming. If playback fails on your current server, try switching to a different US server.
  3. Try the browser instead of the app. Open nfl.com/plus in Chrome or Safari with VPN Super running.
  4. Refresh your connection. Disconnect and reconnect to VPN Super. Then quit the NFL+ app and reopen it.
    • If you're streaming on your browser, close and reopen the tab, or clear your browser cache.
    • Note: If NFL+ prompts you to share your location, don't allow it. If you've already granted access, you can remove it in your browser's settings for nfl.com/plus.

Experiencing slow or interrupted playback?

If NFL+ loads but keeps buffering or dropping to a lower quality, the issue is likely connection speed rather than the VPN server itself.

Check your speed first. Run a speed test at speedtest.net with VPN Super connected. For smooth NFL+ playback, you'll need at least 3Mbps for 720p, 6Mbps for 1080p, and 25Mbps for 4K streaming.

If your speed looks fine but buffering continues, work through steps 1-4 in the section above.
