ZEE5 not working with VPN

support background

ZEE5 won't load, shows an error, or keeps buffering while VPN Super is connected? This guide covers the most common causes, steps to try, and what to do if a title is locked or missing.

Why isn't ZEE5 working with my VPN?

  • The server you're on is busy during a high-traffic window, such as a big new release
  • ZEE5 is detecting VPN traffic and limiting playback
  • The ZEE5 app is still using an old connection from before you connected

What can I try if ZEE5 isn't working with my VPN?

  1. Update the VPN Super app to the latest version. Open the app and check for an update notification on the home screen. If you don't see one, update it on the App Store or Play Store, or download the latest version.
  2. Switch to a Premium server. Premium servers are built for streaming. If you don't have a Premium subscription yet, you can upgrade here. If a title won't start on your current server, switch to a different one.
  3. Try the browser instead of the app. Open zee5.com in Chrome or Safari with VPN Super connected.
  4. Refresh your connection. Disconnect and reconnect VPN Super, then quit the ZEE5 app and reopen it so it uses the new VPN session. In a browser, close and reopen the tab, or clear your browser cache.

Note: If your browser asks to share your location with zee5.com, don't allow it. If you've already allowed it, you can remove that permission in your browser settings.

Title locked or missing on ZEE5?

Some ZEE5 titles need a paid plan, and the catalog isn't the same in every region, so a locked or missing title isn't always a connection problem. Check your plan in your ZEE5 account, make sure you're signed in with that account, and search for the title by name.

ZEE5 buffering or low quality with VPN?

If ZEE5 loads but keeps buffering or drops to a lower quality, the cause is usually connection speed rather than the server.

Run a speed test at speedtest.net with VPN Super connected. ZEE5 recommends at least 5 Mbps, and 25 Mbps for 4K. If your speed is below that:

  • Switch to a server closer to you. A shorter distance usually means faster speeds. Compare servers using the ms latency value in the location list.
  • Switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi. A stable Wi-Fi connection can give more reliable playback.

If your speed is fine but buffering continues, work through steps 1 to 3 above.

Watching ZEE5 on a TV?

Most of the steps above also apply on Apple TV and Android TV. For TV-specific troubleshooting, see How to fix common issues on Apple TV or How to fix common issues on Android TV.
