How to update your VPN Super payment method

support background

Need to update your payment details? Maybe your card expired, you got a new one, or you want to change payment methods. This guide shows you how—the first step is knowing where you originally subscribed, because that's where you'll make the change.

Check where you subscribed to VPN Super

Where you update your payment method depends on how you subscribed to VPN Super:

  • On vpnsuper.com (web): update it in your VPN Super account page.
  • Through the Apple App Store (iPhone or iPad): update it in your Apple account settings.
  • Through Google Play (Android): update it in Google Play.

If you subscribed through Apple or Google, VPN Super never sees your card details, so the change has to be made directly through Apple or Google.

To avoid a failed payment and any interruption, update your details at least 2-3 days before your renewal date to ensure uninterrupted VPN service.

If you subscribed on the web

If you signed up for VPN Super on vpnsuper.com, you can either update your card or PayPal payment source.

How to update your card

  1. Go to My Subscription in your VPN Super account.
  2. Under "Payment details", select "Update payment method."
  3. Enter your new card details:
    • Cardholder name
    • Card number
    • Expiry date (MM/YY)
    • Security code/CVV (3 digits, or 4 for Amex)
    • Billing address, if it has changed
  4. Review everything, then select "Save."
  5. Confirm in the pop-up. A success message lets you know your payment method is updated.

How to update your PayPal payment source

You can do this two ways.

In your VPN Super account:

  1. Go to My Subscription and select "Update payment method."
  2. Complete the PayPal authorization for your new payment source.
  3. Confirm the change.

In your PayPal account:

  1. Sign in at paypal.com.
  2. Go to Settings → Automatic Payments.
  3. Find your VPN Super subscription (it may be listed as "VPN - Super Unlimited Proxy").
  4. Select "Manage," then "Change Payment Method."
  5. Choose your source—PayPal balance, bank account, or a linked card.
  6. Save your changes.

How to switch between a card and PayPal

If you're switching from PayPal to a card:

  1. Look for your Account Management URL in your account settings.
  2. Visit the hosted account management page using the provided link.
  3. Select "Need To Change Payment Method?"
  4. Select "Credit Card" as your new payment method.
  5. Enter your credit card details: cardholder name, card number, expiry date, security code, and billing address.
  6. Save your changes to complete the switch.

If you're switching from a card to PayPal, you'll need a new subscription because of PayPal's billing requirements.

Cancel your current subscription (you'll keep access until it expires), then start a new subscription and choose PayPal at checkout. To avoid a gap in service, time the new subscription to begin as the old one ends, or contact Support for help with the switch. Note that the new subscription will be at current pricing.

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store

Update your payment method in your Apple account, not in the VPN Super app:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Select your name at the top.
  3. Select "Media & Purchases," then "Payment Information." (Or open the App Store, select your profile picture, and select "Manage Payments.")
  4. Add a new card or update your existing details, and set your preferred method.
  5. Save your changes.

If you subscribed through Google Play

Update your payment method in Google Play, not in the VPN Super app:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Open the menu, then select "Payment methods."
  3. Add or update your card, PayPal, or Google Pay details, and set a default for subscriptions.
  4. You can also do this on a computer: go to payments.google.com, sign in, and edit your payment methods there.

What happens after you update

  • Your new payment method is active right away and will be used at your next renewal.
  • Your current subscription period, renewal date, and price stay the same.
  • Your old payment method is securely removed.
  • You'll get a confirmation email, and your renewal will be charged to the new method.

Troubleshooting

You might run into some issues when updating your payment method; these fixes might help:

  • Your card details won't save. Double-check every field for typos, confirm the card hasn't expired, and make sure the billing address matches your bank records. Then try again in a different browser or after clearing your cache.
  • PayPal authorization fails. Check that your PayPal account is in good standing and has funds available in the source you chose, then sign out and back in, or try a different browser.
  • The update still won't complete. Check your internet connection, turn off browser extensions or use a private window, and contact Support if it keeps happening.
  • Your new card is declined for international payments. Ask your bank to enable international transactions and to approve payments to VPN Super, and check that the card supports recurring payments.
  • You're using a prepaid card. Some prepaid cards don't support subscriptions. Make sure it's registered in your name and address, or use a regular bank card instead.

What to do if your payment fails

If a renewal can't be charged, you'll get an email and a grace period to fix it. Your service continues during that time; if it isn't resolved, your account will eventually be suspended.

To fix it:

  1. Update your payment method using the steps above.
  2. Retry the payment from your account settings.
  3. Check with your bank about any transaction blocks.
  4. Contact Support if it still won't go through.

To avoid this in the future, update your card before it expires, keep a backup card on file, watch for renewal reminder emails, make sure international payments are enabled, and keep enough funds available.

How your payment details are protected

Your payment information is encrypted in transit and stored securely. VPN Super keeps only the last four digits of your card, the card type, the expiry date, and your billing country. It never stores your full card number, security code (CVV), PIN, or full PayPal login.
