Why do I see a "No network" notification on Android?

support background

If your Android device shows a "No network, waiting for a usable network" notification, it's usually linked to Android's Always-on VPN setting. Here's why it appears and how to stop it.

Why does this notification appear?

When Always-on VPN is turned on, Android starts the VPN when your device boots and keeps it running. If your internet connection drops for any reason, Android shows this notification while it waits to reconnect.

How to fix it

  1. Check your internet connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or move closer to your router.
  2. Once your connection is stable, the notification should go away.
  3. If it keeps coming back and you don't need Always-on VPN, turn it off (steps below).

How to turn off Always-on VPN

  1. Open your device's Settings app and go to Network & Internet → VPN.
  2. Tap the gear icon next to VPN - Super Unlimited Proxy.
  3. Turn off Always-on VPN.

These settings can look different depending on your device model and Android version.

Should I keep Always-on VPN turned on?

It's up to you. With Always-on VPN on, Android keeps the VPN running in the background, but you'll see this notification whenever your internet drops. With it off, connect in the VPN Super app whenever you want to use the VPN.

For more on disconnecting and reconnecting, see How to disconnect VPN Super.
