ABC.com won't load, shows an error, or keeps buffering while VPN Super is connected? This guide covers the most common causes, steps to try, and what to do if you're looking for ABC iview instead.
Why isn't ABC working with my VPN?
- The server you're on is busy during a high-traffic window, such as a big live broadcast
- ABC is detecting VPN traffic and limiting playback
- Your browser is still using an old connection from before you connected
What can I try if ABC isn't working with my VPN?
- Update the VPN Super app to the latest version. Open the app and check for an update notification on the home screen. If you don't see one, update it on the App Store or Play Store, or download the latest version.
- Switch to a Premium server. Premium servers are built for streaming. If you don't have a Premium subscription yet, you can upgrade here. If an episode won't start on your current server, switch to a different one.
- Watch on ABC.com in your browser. Open abc.com in Chrome or Safari with VPN Super connected. Live TV may ask you to sign in with your TV provider.
- Refresh your connection. Disconnect and reconnect VPN Super, then close and reopen the ABC.com tab so it uses the new VPN session. In a browser, close and reopen the tab, or clear your browser cache.
Note: If your browser asks to share your location with abc.com, don't allow it. If you've already allowed it, you can remove that permission in your browser settings.
Watching ABC iview or ABC shows on Hulu?
This guide covers ABC.com in the US. ABC iview is a separate Australian service, so the steps above apply but its sign-in and catalog are different. If you watch ABC shows on Disney+ (which now includes Hulu content), see Hulu not working with VPN.
ABC buffering or low quality with VPN?
If ABC loads but keeps buffering or drops to a lower quality, the cause is usually connection speed rather than the server.
Run a speed test at speedtest.net with VPN Super connected. If your speed is low, try these:
- Switch to a server closer to you. A shorter distance usually means faster speeds. Compare servers using the ms latency value in the location list.
- Switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi. A stable Wi-Fi connection can give more reliable playback.
If your speed is fine but buffering continues, work through steps 1 to 3 above.
Watching ABC on a TV?
The ABC app is no longer available on smart TVs and streaming devices. To watch ABC shows on a TV, use the Disney+ app (which now includes Hulu content) or your TV provider's app. For TV-specific troubleshooting, see How to fix common issues on Apple TV or How to fix common issues on Android TV.
