What's new in VPN Super for Mac?

See what we’ve added and fixed in each version of VPN Super for Mac, with the latest release first.

Before you begin

Make sure you have the following:

• A Premium subscription to VPN Super
• macOS 13 Ventura or later
• About 5 minutes for setup

To find your Mac version, click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your Mac > About This Mac > macOS.

Release notes

Version 1.1.0

• More reliable reconnects: The app reconnects on its own after a drop, even when parts of our network are hard to reach.
• Smoother updates: Updates no longer get stuck when your connection drops mid-download, and they finish cleanly.
• Bug fixes and improvements: Signing out now always takes you back to the Sign in screen, and the Nepal flag now shows correctly.

Version 1.0.24

• Improved connection speed: Connecting is quicker on Macs with several network adapters, such as Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
• Translated the installer and updater: The installer, uninstaller and updater now follow your Mac’s language, in 14 languages.
• Added an error for unreachable locations: If a location can’t be reached, the app now shows an error instead of staying on Connecting.
• Fixed connecting after quick clicks: Connecting and disconnecting quickly no longer stops locations from connecting for several minutes.
• Improved updates: If the app is open when an update finishes, it now restarts on the new version.

• Fixed cancelled updates: If you cancel an update, the app now says it was cancelled and reopens, with no blank page or repeated password prompts.
• Fixed repeat update offers: The app no longer offers an update again while that update is already installing.

Version 1.0.22

• Improved reconnecting: When the connection drops, the app now reconnects once instead of several times in a row.
• Sharpened country flags: Country flags are now sharp on Retina displays.
• Fixed location names: City names in the server list now show their spaces, for example New York and Salt Lake City.

Version 1.0.21

• Refreshed navigation: Screens slide as you move between them, the sidebar slides over the current screen, and dialogs scale into view. You can drag the window from anywhere along the title bar.
• Added hover highlights: Buttons, back arrows, server rows and social icons now light up when you hover over them, and the menu button stays in the same place on every screen.
• Fixed installer results: If you cancel the installer, or your Mac doesn’t meet the requirements, it now says the app wasn’t installed and removes anything it added.
• Fixed the uninstaller on macOS 26: The uninstaller’s password prompt no longer warns that Apple couldn’t verify the app on macOS 26 and later.
• Fixed display issues: Scrollbars now sit outside the lists they scroll, the Help & Support screen fits without scrolling, and Launch at login shows its real setting as soon as Settings opens.

Version 1.0.20

• Changed the install location: VPN Super now installs directly into your Applications folder.
• Simplified single-city countries: Countries with one city now show the country name, and search finds them by either name.
• Improved the first speed check: The first speed check now uses our recommended locations for your country.
• Fixed high CPU use: The app no longer uses a lot of CPU while it retries a connection.
• Polished the app: Screens now fade between each other, and the About screen shows a short version number you can share with Support.

Version 1.0.19

• Improved server choice: Connecting to a location now picks that location’s newest servers.
• Improved failed updates: If an update fails, the app now explains what happened and offers a direct download, instead of closing.

Version 1.0.18

• Added uninstall to the menu bar: Choose Uninstall VPN Super from the menu bar, with no separate app to find.
• Improved the uninstaller: It’s now signed by VPN Super, closes without asking for your password, shows the app icon and has one step fewer.
• Fixed device names: The connected-device list now shows your device’s name.
• Fixed the server list: Server flags and the list’s alignment now display correctly.

Version 1.0.17

• Added WireGuard port fallback: Connections now work on networks that block a particular port.
• Improved recovery from stalled connections: The app now detects a stalled connection and reconnects within about 15 seconds.
• Improved connecting while offline: If you connect while offline, the app now waits and connects on its own once your internet is back.
• Reduced background traffic: The app no longer re-requests the server list every few minutes while you’re connected.
